Ski Area

La Tzoumaz/Savoleyres is part of the famous 4 Vallées ski area in Switzerland.  However it is also a resort in its own right with 8 lifts and 55 kilometres of slopes from 1520m up to 2354m.  It has 62% Blue runs, 33% Red runs and 5% Black runs making it ideal for beginners and family groups.  In addition there are large areas of accesible off-piste skiing.  There are seven restaurants on the slopes providing plenty of choice for all tastes.  The resort is north-facing with the result that the snow is usually very reliable until late April.  There are also numerous snow-making machines which keep the pistes in good condition.

There is a very good link via the modern high-speed Savoleyres lift from La Tzoumaz to the rest of the 4 Vallées area, which includes the well-known resort of Verbier together with Bruson, Nendaz, Veysonnaz and Thyon.  This gives a total area of 410 kilometres of groomed slopes via 89 lifts.  The highest area is the Mont-Fort glacier at 3330m.  There are numerous Black runs and areas of off-piste plus several Routes Itinéraires for the more experienced skiers.  One of these Routes Itinéraires leads directly from Lac des Vaux via the Vallon d'Arbi to La Tzoumaz.

Chalet Belle Roche is ski-in/ski-out for all but complete beginners subject to conditions.  We are located about 100m directly above the Savoleyres lift station and there are well-worn tracks from our group of chalets down to the lift.  On the way back we take a well-used track off the Etablons piste through the woods direct to the chalet.  Alternatively it is a 10 minute-walk to the main piste at the Etablons Bar (great après-ski pit stop), which is on the ski slope leading down to the Savoleyres lift station.  Here is also the access point for the Etablons lift, the beginners' area and the bus stop (free bus service throughout the village during the ski season).
